Privacy

Overview

Alison Workspace is a local-first macOS app for live transcription and bilingual captions. It does not require an account and the current version has no app-operated server, advertising, analytics, or cloud synchronization.

System audio and screen content

Alison uses Apple’s ScreenCaptureKit to access audio playing on your Mac. Audio frames are used for real-time speech recognition in memory. The app does not save raw audio to history or write it as a local recording. Alison does not save screen frames.

Caption and translation history

If history is enabled, recognized text, translated text, and timing information are stored in the app’s Application Support directory on your Mac. Records remain until you delete individual sessions or clear all history. The app does not upload that history to an Alison-operated server.

Network activity and third-party resources

Core processing is designed to run locally after the required resources are installed. Network access may occur when:

• macOS prepares Apple Speech or Apple Translation language resources;
• you choose to download an optional WhisperKit speech model from the Argmax repository hosted on Hugging Face; or
• you follow an external link, such as an App Store or source-license page.

Those platforms may process network metadata under their own terms. Alison does not send captured audio, captions, or local history as part of model-resource downloads.

Permissions

• Screen & System Audio Recording: required to obtain system playback audio. Screen frames are not saved.
• Accessibility: optional, used only for global keyboard shortcuts while another app is active. The feature does not read typed text.
• Microphone: not requested by V1 because microphone input is not part of the first-release scope.

Website data

This static preview does not include analytics, advertising pixels, accounts, cookies, or an active launch-list backend. The email field on the preview does not transmit an address. This section must be updated before any form service, analytics, support tool, or hosting log policy is added to the public site.

Deleting data

You can delete individual text-history sessions or clear all text history within the app. Optional Whisper models can be removed through model management. Revoking macOS permissions prevents future capture but does not automatically delete existing local text history.

Children’s privacy

Alison Workspace is a general-purpose Mac utility and is not directed to children. The current version does not create user accounts or intentionally collect personal information through an Alison-operated service.

This explanation will be updated when product behavior, website services, distribution details, or applicable requirements change. Material differences between this page and the shipping app must be resolved before release.
