AlisonPlayer Privacy Policy

This policy covers AlisonPlayer for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. AlisonPlayer is a separate product from Alison Workspace, even though their support pages share this website.

Media and on-device processing

AlisonPlayer reads the video and audio files or folders you choose, to play media and generate subtitles. Recognition and translation run on your device using Apple frameworks or downloaded local models. We do not operate a service that receives your videos, audio, or subtitle text for recognition or translation.

The app may make local media copies, extract temporary audio, or create local converted playback files as required for file access and format compatibility. These are device-local processing files, not media uploads to us.

Stored app data

The app stores media metadata, playback positions, subtitle tracks and text, settings, downloaded models, and local processing caches. File access bookmarks and local file references allow the app to reopen media you have selected.

The app does not require an AlisonPlayer account and does not include advertising or third-party tracking SDKs. We do not receive your local library or generated subtitle history through an app-operated server.

Apple iCloud services

Where iCloud synchronization is available and active in a signed build, the app's synchronization data can include media metadata, playback positions, subtitle text and timing, and saved viewing bookmarks in your Apple CloudKit private database. Apple handles that service under your Apple Account and its privacy terms.

The original media files, local folder permissions, and security-scoped file access bookmarks are excluded from the app's CloudKit synchronization. A build without available CloudKit configuration stores this data locally instead. On-device recognition does not mean that subtitle text can never be synchronized when iCloud functionality is enabled.

Free allowance records

To enforce the cumulative free subtitle allowance, the app records processed media duration in app preferences and in an app-specific item in Apple's Keychain, using the greater recorded usage. This Keychain item contains an allowance counter, not your passwords or media content, and is not configured for iCloud Keychain synchronization.

The counter may remain after ordinary app-data cleanup or reinstallation, depending on the device and system. Clearing library data does not intentionally reset the allowance. The allowance is currently tracked locally on each device; it is not an account-wide server balance.

Purchases

StoreKit provides product information and verified transactions to determine Pro access, including the product identifier and, for subscriptions, expiration or revocation information. Apple processes payments, subscriptions, and purchase restoration. We do not receive payment card details or your Apple Account password.

Downloads and other network activity

Network access is used for Apple language resources, optional model downloads, StoreKit services, available iCloud synchronization, and links you open. Model downloads can use ModelScope, Hugging Face, or a configured mirror. Those providers may receive standard connection information such as an IP address and process it under their own policies.

Recognition and translation requests are processed on the device. Model-download requests do not include your chosen media or generated subtitle text.

Support messages and diagnostics

If you email support, we receive the email address, message, and any attachments or diagnostic information you choose to send. We use that information to respond and investigate the issue through our email provider. Sending a diagnostic report is your choice; reports can contain recognized dialogue, file details, and timestamps, so review them before sharing.

We retain support correspondence while needed to handle the request and related follow-up, or as required by law. Contact us to request removal of the support information you provided, subject to those obligations.

Website visits

These pages are hosted at alisonworkspace.com through Cloudflare and our web server. Website requests may produce standard connection and access logs, including the requested page, time, IP address, referring page, and browser information. Server logs are automatically deleted after approximately 30 days.

The site may use Cloudflare's aggregate, cookie-free web analytics. This website activity is separate from your local playback and subtitle content. More information about the shared website is available in the Alison Workspace website privacy policy at /legal/privacy.html.

Your choices and data removal

You can remove library entries and manage downloaded models in the app. You can revoke file access and control Apple iCloud services in system settings. Local caches and app data follow the platform's app-storage behavior; exported files and your original media remain under your control.

Removing a local library entry does not cancel an Apple subscription or guarantee deletion of any previously synchronized iCloud copy. If you need help locating or removing app data or synchronized data, contact support. The free allowance counter is retained separately as described above.

Children and policy changes

AlisonPlayer is a general-purpose media utility and is not designed to collect information from children through an app-operated service. We update this policy when data handling changes and show the revision date above.
